A Laptop, A Beer and Thou: Socializing with Wi-Fi
January 02, 2007

The Greensboro News-Record's Joe Killian today looks at the impact of pervasive Wi-Fi access on social behavior. "With Wi-Fi becoming a part of everyday life, some say they now make their social plans based on where they can find free wireless internet," he writes.
Wi-Fi access in coffee shops is common enough, but Killian notes that even sports bars like nearby High Point's Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar are starting to offer free Wi-Fi.
According to regular James Rand, Wi-Fi makes it possible to keep on top of fantasy football and instant message friends while watching a game. "This is totally the future in bars and restaurants," Rand says. "You just have to be careful not to spill any beer on your computer."
