AirDefense Raises Retail Wireless Security Concerns

AirDefense this week announced the results of its 2007 Retail Shopping wireless security
Survey, which tested 3,000 stores in the U.S. and Europe and found more than 2,500 wireless devices in use - only 15 percent of which had effective wireless security. Fully 25 percent of access points had no encryption in place at all.
"Retailers around the country are leaving the proverbial barn door open for potential problems should unauthorized individuals desire to steal consumer credit card information and point-of-sale information," warns AirDefense's Richard Rushing.
