Wi-Fi Networking News' Glenn Fleishman today picks up on a blog post by Alereon CEO Eric Broockman, which Fleishman calls a "love letter to ultrawideband."
"UWB in the form of Wireless USB is imminent," Fleishman writes. "Yes, I know it's been 'imminent' for anywhere from two to four years. But there are actual working chips, actual working prototypes, and products lurching toward market."
"The beauty of wireless USB is that it provides application compatibility to the large, already installed base of USB devices today," Broockman writes. "This in turn makes it much easier for manufacturers to add Wireless USB to their products, because it essentially eliminates the need for a UWB cable without requiring the invention of new software."
