RFID

Gizmodo's Louis Ramirez says a patent application from Apple indicates that the company plans to use RFID to make it easier for users to set up Wi-Fi networks.
An RFID transceiver in each wireless base station, Ramirez says, would store all network info like the SSID and encryption info. "Devices that you want to connect to your network would be fitted with rfid tags, so when the two come face-to-face (the device and your base station), RFID info can be read/written to the tag without having to configure anything," he writes.
MacNN goes into much more detail here ... and there's more here from Engadget ... more here from Unwired View ... and more here from AppleInsider.
