ASUS' Modular Green PC
Filed in archive Ultrawideband on February 24, 2006

Via Neoseeker, news of ASUS' concept of a modular "Green PC." It's not even a prototype yet, but it's a great idea -- every part of the PC is an interchangeable module that gets stacked onto a base unit. Power is provided through induction, and all communications are handled using ultrawideband (UWB). So building your own personal dream PC is easy: just stack whatever hard drive, memory, processor, etc. you like, and they'll all work together.
According to Reg Hardware, "Markus Wierzoch of the company's asus Design division admitted the concept doesn't yet exist as a working prototype, but he maintained that if technology evolves the way the company expects it to, building such a machine will be feasible in the future."
Neoseeker's Tom Karpik writes that the design reminds him of the "control crystals" onboard Goa'uld and Wraith ships from the Stargate series. Personally, I have no idea what he's talking about.
