AT&T and Code Factory Announce Products for the Blind
Filed in archive Mobile by jeff goldman on July 18, 2007

WirelessWeek's Teresa von Fuchs reports today that AT&T, in partnership with Code Factory, has announced plans for two new products for blind and visually impaired customers.
"The first product is Mobile Speak, which provides customers with a screen reader, a speech feedback function and braille
support that can be used with or without speech," Fuchs writes. "The other product is Mobile Magnifier, which magnifies text on a mobile phone from 1.25 times to 16 times its normal size."
"We have found that individuals who have vision loss want to be able to choose from a range of wireless handsets," says the American Foundation for the Blind's Paul Schroeder. "Just like people who can see, customers with disabilities want options. We applaud AT&T for its leadership in investing the effort to understand and address the needs of individuals with vision loss."
The solutions, to be released later this year, will work on Windows Mobile and Symbian Series 60 phones.
