AT&T Wireless has announced that the AT&T Tilt smartphone will launch tomorrow, Friday, October 5th, priced at $300 with a two-year contract.
The Tilt, designed by HTC, is a Windows Mobile 6 handset with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, three-megapixel camera and 3G data speeds. It also includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, as well as a MicroSD memory card slot.
"While the Tilt looks a lot like its predecessor - tablet design, full slider-keyboard, 2.8-inch 240 x 320 pixel resolution touch display - there are also a number of improvements. For example, when you slide the keyboard out from underneath the screen, you'll be able to tilt the screen up laptop style," writes PDAStreet's James Alan Miller. "Hence the name Tilt..."
"For IT departments that support a mix of Windows Mobile and blackberry smartphones
, the Tilt would make a smart choice," suggests InformationWeek's Elena Malykhina. "Windows Mobile 6 comes with Microsoft's 'direct push' technology for automatic delivery of e-mail from Exchange Servers. The Tilt also includes Research In Motion's BlackBerry Connect 4.0 software, which offers features found in BlackBerry smartphones such as push e-mail, security, and device management."
