AT&T Wireless May Skip WiMax for 4G LTE Technology

WirelessWeek's Joni Morse reports that AT&T Wireless may skip the wimax technologylinks that Sprint and others are counting on, and move straight on to high-speed 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) tech.

"LTE provides similar throughputs, so we're taking a wait-and-see approach to WiMax," says AT&T's Chris Hill. "We just don't see the value proposition for mobile WiMax."

"A tough day for WiMax supporters, indeed," writes Engadget's Darren Murph.
