Battery Life is 'No Longer an Impediment' for Wi-Fi Phones

According to ZDNet UK's David Meyer, James Tagg, CEO of Truphone, says the upgrade from Windows Mobile 5.0 to Windows Mobile 6 has greatly improved the battery life of Wi-Fi phones.
"A lot of work [has been done] with the manufacturers of the Wi-Fi chips [together with] some proper thought around the software stack
," Tagg says.
Tagg even says the latest Nokia phones can offer "better life out of the Wi-Fi than the cellular," which is quite a claim considering the significant battery drain that Wi-Fi usually causes.
A spokesperson for Cambridge Silicon Radio agrees, suggesting, "We are getting to the point where [the inclusion of Wi-Fi] is no longer an impediment to the end-consumer's decision to choose a product that incorporates that technology."
