Dean at VoIP User picks up on today's announcement that WLAN company Bluesocket is buying VoIP company Pingtel, with the aim of cornering the market on enterprise fixed-mobile convergence.
"This is a big play for the enterprise convergence space (Wi-Fi/cellular handoff) and I wish them luck with that," Dean writes. "It's also good news for the open-source community, as Bluesocket have pledged to 're-seed' the sipX/sipFoundry project with some cash and resources."
TMCnet's Rich Tehrani adds, "The combination of a PBX and Wi-Fi company makes a great deal of sense. This can be a very good solution for companies looking to a single vendor for true mobility and communications product depth."
