CNET's Marguerite Reardon reports today that the Chicago Cubs will be connecting pitchers to coaching staff over a Push-to-Talk network, starting tomorrow, using an ultra-durable Motorola i580 phone.
The deployment of the system, Reardon says, is being treated as history in the making.
"Following the game, the Motorola i580 phone will be taken to Cooperstown, home of baseball's Hall of Fame, and placed on display," she writes.
"We are very proud to be the first team in Major League Baseball history to introduce wireless communication between dugouts and bullpens," says Chicago cubs
Senior Vice President John McDonough.
Motorola's press release is here.
