Cisco Buys Cognio

Here at the Wireless Weblog, we love spectrum analysis company Cognio - and not only because they've been a frequent sponsor of the blog - so it's only appropriate to congratulate them today on being acquired by a little company called Cisco.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Cognio has emerged as the leader in spectrum intelligence technology," says Cisco's Brett Galloway. "Wireless spectrum is a strategic asset for our customers, and its management is key to the robust delivery of mobility applications. Cognio's innovation in spectrum intelligence will help ensure Cisco continues to differentiate our ability to deliver our customers rich and dependable end-user mobility experiences."
ZDNet's Russell Shaw says it's a good move on Cisco's part. "One of Cognio's core competencies is to detect radio frequency interference sources," he writes. "Such detection capabilities, as found in Cognio's Wireless Spectrum Expert 3.1 for WiFi, can help network managers identify problems before they become major."
