Clearwire Quietly Launches WiMax PC Card in Seattle

WiMax provider Clearwire has released a new WiMax PC Card, available to its Seattle customers for $80 with a two-year contract at $60 per month.
The advantages of a PC Card, of course, are pretty straightforward. "PC Card can be used in most laptops versus a modem's size and power requirement that limit mobility," notes FierceBroadbandWireless.
"The PC card launch will be a critical test for Clearwire on the market demand for broadband wireless services in the face of slowing growth in cable modems
and DSL lines as well as the recent cancellation of muni-WiFi projects," says Pali Research analyst Walter Piecyk.
"You can buy it today, but of course, you'll be extremely limited in terms of coverage," notes jkOnTheRun's Kevin C. Tofel. "At last check, there were only a very small handful of metro areas for service."
