Delivering Content to the Home via a Combo of WiMax and Wi-Fi

Pace Micro Technology, Metalink, and Runcom Technologies today announced that they've developed a combination WiMax/Wi-Fi multimedia content delivery system for the home. The system is designed to allow cable and DSL operators to expand their footprint into areas they couldn't otherwise reach, keeping the entire system wireless.
The solution consists of a Wi-Fi server in the home that's connected to a wimax network
for backhaul. The Wi-Fi server can then deliver video and data to set-top boxes, mobile phones and PCs via Wi-Fi.
"WiMax is still an emerging technology, but it promises to revolutionise the broadband market and open up a whole range of opportunities for pay TV operators and telcos," says Pace's Darren Fawcett.
