Denver International Airport Says BoingBoing = Pornography

The AP today picked up on news that Denver International Airport's free Wi-Fi blocks a somewhat eccentric range of content, including BoingBoing.net and VanityFair.com - apparently, the Airport uses the same SmartFilter technology to block objectionable content that's used by the Kuwaiti and Sudanese governments, among others.


When rock star David Byrne tried to access BoingBoing at DIA last month, he was surprised to find it blocked for having allegedly objectionable content - and news outlets have now picked up on that fact.


According to The Denver Post's Michael Booth, DIA spokesman Chuck Cannon says airport officials would prefer to deal with "infrequent blocking complaints, rather than angry parents whose children walked by a screen showing pornography." How BoingBoing constitutes pornography, though, Cannon doesn't say...
