Don't Forget About 802.20

Filed in archive WiMax/WiBro by jeff goldman on January 24, 2006

Recent reports from ABI Research take a look at the fact that companies are finally releasing actual certifiedlinks WiMax solutions -- while also noting that the rival 802.20 may get something of a resurgence thanks to Qualcomm's recent acquisition of Flarion.

802.20 competes directly with 802.16e (mobile WiMax).

"802.20 may get a new lease on life," says Philip Solis, ABI's Senior Analyst of Wireless Connectivity Research. "Qualcomm will almost certainly attempt to rally support from other industry participants."

More on the two standards here.
