CNET News' Michael Kanellos reports that researcher Ermanno Pietrosemoli of the Escuela Latinoamerica de Redes (Networking School of Latin America) has set a new world record for the longest communication link via Wi-Fi, covering 238 miles between El Aguila and Platillon Mountain, venezuela
.
"He used technology from Intel, which is concocting its own long-range Wi-Fi equipment, and some off-the-shelf parts," Kanellos writes. "Pietrosemoli gets about 3 megabits per second in each direction on his long-range connections."
