Foursome to Offer WiMAX VoIP

New Telephony's Paula Bernier reports that
AudioCodes, CableMatrix, Emergent Networks and VCom have joined together to deliver a WiMAX-based VoIP platform for service providers, which they're demonstrating this week at GLOBALCOMM.
"AudioCodes is contributing its media gateway to the Solution," Bernier writes. "CableMatrix is providing the QoS/policy management part of the solution. Emergent brings the session border controller functionality, and VCom offers the 3.5GHz WiMAX access piece."
"This will probably be the first of its kind worldwide," says CableMatrix's Jay Malin, who says the solution employs "parameterized" QoS, allowing applications to get the exact level of network resources they need.
VCom's Robert Forget says he expects trials of the solution to begin this summer.
