Free Laptop With a One-Year WiMax Contract!

EE Times' Dylan McGrath reports that Sriram Viswanathan, vice president and director of Intel Capital's mobility sector, said on Wednesday that his company expects laptops to go the way of cell phones, getting sold at subsidized rates with WiMax service contracts.

According to McGrath, Viswanathan said that WiMax would "fundamentally change the laptop computer business model."

"Viswanathan said Intel Capital views the laptop computer in the same situation that the Palm Pilot was in several years ago, before cell phone service providers made wireless broadband service available," McGrath writes.

    EE Times’ Dylan McGrath reports that Sriram Viswanathan, vice president and director of Intel Capital’s mobility sector, said on Wednesday that his company expects laptops to go the way of cell phones, getting sold at subsidized rates with WiMax service contracts.

    According to McGrath, Viswanathan said that WiMax would “fundamentally change the laptop computer business model.”

    “Viswanathan said Intel Capital views the laptop computer in the same situation that the Palm Pilot was in several years ago, before cell phone service providers made wireless broadband service available,” McGrath writes.

    i came across this site “the wirless webblog” giving out free laptop. well, i was wondering why, there’s not even a contest ad or like an essay or something as to why one should get a fee laptop. i read here people are begging for it and giving out the names and home addresses. but anyway i here wimax is an ISP. i don’t know if we have it here in the Philippines. that’s also one thing i’m wondering. if one get to have the free laptop, can he/she make use of the wimax contract? nonetheless the laptop is for keeps even without the wimax.

    I am presently studying as an scholar of the government with a course in Computer Science.     i really need a laptop because my sisters and i need it in our studies. in school, one of my sister is required to access the internet for at least an hour per week but since we do not have the money, she get scolded most of the time. during my high school days, i used skip meals just so i can earn money for our computer class. i am in college and our books are really expensive so we usually resort to using ebooks but the thing is that i do not have a laptop and i can’t afford to rent a computer everyday. it’s really hard for me to review especially when i’ve got exams. i dont need a very pretty laptop. i just need something that i and my sisters could use. i will be very thankful.
