Free vs. For-Fee Wi-Fi
Filed in archive Wi-Fi by jeff goldman on January 04, 2006

It's an increasing problem that will only get worse as Wi-Fi hotspots and hotzones become more and more prevalent -- travel weblog Jaunted notes that there's a battle being waged at Boston's Logan Airport between Continental Airlines
and the Massachusetts Port Authority over competition between Continental's free Wi-Fi and the airport's own $7.95-a-day service. Jaunted's own post links to a Boston Globe article on the topic. The article quotes Massport attorney Christine M. Gill as acknowledging that "installation of a Wi-Fi antenna in Continental's Presidents Club would have a detrimental economic impact on Massport."
Now they know what it feels like to be a for-fee wireless service provider in Philadelphia... or San Francisco... or anywhere else...
