Tom Sanders notes today on vnunet.com that Gartner is urging companies to "stay away from next-generation Wi-Fi equipment described as 802.11n-compliant."
The report condemns providers like Broadcom and Marvell, which have made statements anticipating their products' compliance with 802.11n, as being both "misleading" and "premature."
The Gartner report, entitled 'Draft 802.11n Could Cause Confusion Among Wi-Fi Users,' offers enterprises the following advice: "Don't purchase a product based solely on its claims regarding 802.11n draft compliance. Maturity is still a year away."
Instead, the report advises, "Plan to stay with Wi-Fi-certified
products under the 802.11a/b/g banner. Expect these technology investments to be good for at least four more years."Permalink: Gartner Urges Caution on 802.11n
