Get the City out of Wi-Fi

How do you feel about city Wi-Fi projects? At first I was ok with them, thinking they would be a great service to the city as a whole. But after hearing how they are plagued with problems, it makes me wonder. Also, I have a huge problem when I hear city officials talking about "breaking even" or "turning a profit". I really thought these types of systems would be for the benefit of city life. I say, let the telecom providers build a profitable system.
