Holy Wireless UWB Port Replicator, Toshiba!

Hot on the heels of yesterday's announcement of six new Certified Wireless USB products comes a new ultrawideband wireless docking stationlinks from Toshiba, the positively-Star-Trek-sounding "Toshiba Wireless UWB Port Replicator."

The $500 wireless device, capable of streaming uncompressed video, works with the Toshiba Portege R400-S4834, R400-S4835 and R400-S4933.

As The Inquirer's Nick Farrell points out, the solution does have its limitations. "UWB has limited range and the laptops have to be within three feet of the docking station, and they are legal only in the US," he writes. "But if you are from the US and do not want to move far from your desk, this could be the technology for you..."
