Filed in archive RFID by jeff goldman on June 12, 2007

TUV Product Service News reports that Identec Solutions has developed an RFID tag that uses GPS to track a single item's specific location.
"The tag uses satellite data with RFID technology to monitor its movement, potentially enabling complete identification of an asset's location," the article states. "It also has a range of 500 metres and can be used in conjunction with a reader to be activated at any time."
The company isn't humble about its achievement. "The Identec Solutions GPS Tag is a groundbreaking solution so advanced that applications for the technology are virtually endless," says Peter Linke, Identec's executive vice president for sales and marketing.
