Intel and Dell Countersue CSIRO Regarding WLAN Patent
Filed in archive Wi-Fi by jeff goldman on December 29, 2006

Payback's a bitch... The Inquirer reports today that Dell and Intel have countersued the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), an arm of the Australian government, over its claim to a wireless LAN patent covering key features of the 802.11a and 802.11g standards.
Intel and Dell, the article states, are arguing that CSIRO's claims that its patent (no. 5,487,069) is being infringed are invalid.
Why the suit? Intel says its customers are demanding it. "There is a substantial risk that Intel may be obligated to defend or indemnify one or more Intel customers against CSIRO's infringement claims," lawyers said in the filing made on the 27th of December.
