Okay, so it wasn't an exploding mobile phone... The Korea Times' Cho Jin-seo reports that a co-worker has confessed to having accidentally killed a Korean miner, then making it appear that he had been killed by an exploding cell phone.

"Kwon, 58, said on Thursday night that he hit Seo, 33, while driving his excavator backward at a stone quarry in Cheongwon, North Chungcheong Province, the police said," the article states. "The phone was on fire when he found Seo lying down on the ground, and he was too afraid to say what had happened."

"The National Institute of Scientific Investigation says the man's injuries - including a broken back and damaged heart and lungs - could not have been caused by a phone," adds BetaNews' Nate Mook.
