Conservative London mayor Boris Johnson recently told a local radio station that he wants London to become a "Wi-Fi city," with Wi-Fi Internet access available everywhere in time for the 2012 Olympic Games.
"Speaking to BBC London 94.9, Johnson said he envisions providing every Londoner with access to the Web," writes The Register's Austin Modine.
"Johnson added the city should look into ways to improve infrastructure so Wi-Fi access can be available across London," Modine writes. "Apparently, he doesn't realize it's already well covered by commercial Wi-Fi access..."
"London meanwhile has topped a recent survey of the world's Wi-Fi cities," notes Silicon.com's Jo Best. "According to a study by iPass, London sees the most Wi-Fi use by business of all the world's cities, with more than 31,000 user sessions in the first half of this year."
