Marvell today introduced the Marvell TopDog 11n-450, the first 802.11n Wi-Fi chip that operates at a blazing 450 Mbps (megabits per second).
"In addition to this hefty boost in bandwidth, the company also claims the new chipset will increase signal range by 160 percent," notes Wired's Bryan Gardiner.
The chip, which is fully backward-compatible with other generations of 802.11, will begin shipping this spring.
