Meru Gets $25 Million for VoWi-Fi

Converge! Network Digest reports today that Meru Networks raised $25 million in its fourth round of funding. "The company said that over the past 12 months its business has grown at a rapid pace," the article states. "Among its prominent milestones, Meru was recently selected by Osaka Gas for a wireless VoIP project described as the world's largest fixed-mobile convergence deployment."
Lehman Brothers Venture Partners led the funding round, which also included Clearstone Venture Partners, NeoCarta Ventures, BlueStream Ventures, JumpStartUp Ventures and Evercore Ventures, all of whom have invested in previous Meru funding rounds. The new funding brings the total investment in the company to $68 million.
"The wireless LAN market is experiencing significant growth – particularly with voice over wireless," says Brian Paul, Managing Director of Lehman Brothers Venture Partners. "Of the players in this competitive space, Meru has emerged with a unique vision that they have been able to successfully translate into helping customers deploy pervasive wireless voice and data networks."
