Microsoft Teams with JiWire to Dominate Muni Wi-Fi Advertising

ComputerWorld's Matt Hamblen reports today that Microsoft has announced an agreement with JiWire to work together in placing ads on municipal Wi-Fi networks, starting in Portland, Oregon
and Oakland County, Michigan.
"The two companies would not disclose terms of the alliance but said they will place ads in a variety of styles, including so-called ultramercials, which are interactive ads that Wi-Fi users agree to watch in return for free network access," Hamblen writes.
As Chris at LiveSide notes, "With Google not yet having a clear lead in this area, this could potentially be a very lucrative business for Microsoft..."
