Microsoft's Zune 'iPod Killer' May Suck After All...

TWICE's Amy Gilroy reports that Microsoft is telling retailers its Zune digital audio player won't actually be able to download songslinks over Wi-Fi.

"Retailers, who claimed Microsoft remained 'fuzzy' on the Zune's wireless capability, said only that Zune will allow users to bookmark songs that may be shared via Wi-Fi, but that users cannot purchase songs on the go from the Microsoft Zune Web site," Gilroy writes.

An article at T3 suggests this is enough to make you "fear for Zune before it's even arrived - especially following murmurs that video playing will be a no-no from the outset too... Zune should still let you share tunes via Wi-Fi, but then, so will many other machines hitting the market - not least Sony's Mylo, which already has a head start on Microsoft, and many other tricks up its sleeve."

Looks like Apple doesn't have much to fear -- for this Christmas season, at least...
