Motorola Bets on Mobile TV with the DH01 Media Player
Filed in archive Mobile by jeff goldman on January 3, 2008

At CES today, Motorola announced the DVB-H-compatible Motorola Mobile TV DH01 media player, a pocket-sized device with a 4.3-inch display that plays both live TV and on-demand programs from a DVR.
"It is the first foray by the world's No. 3 maker of cell phones into devices solely devoted to mobile TV, an emerging service that wireless carriers hope will boost revenue as phone call prices fall," notes Reuters' Sinead Carew.
At this point, though, the device will be targeted largely at Europe and Asia. "Although DVB-H has been deployed in a number of Asian and European markets - and is backed by Nokia, among others - it's essentially unheard of in the United States, with Crown Castle/Modeo being the only U.S.-based operator that has attempted to roll out the technology," notes Digital Trends' Geoff Duncan. "Sorry: U.S. residents will probably have to look elsewhere for tapping into Oprah on the go."
No word yet on price or availability.
