Nation's First Wireless Railway... with Infotainment!

Wi-Fi Networking News' Glenn Fleishman reports that 4G Metro has announced plans to deploy 10 Mbps service on Texas' Trinity Railway Express (TRE), using equipment from Colubris and Nortel.
Fleishman notes that 4G Metro
wants bragging rights as the nation's first broadband-enabled railway, with deployment expected this summer. "The group confirmed that service would be on every car in every train," he writes. "TRE carries 5,000 passengers daily across a 36-mile route from Ft. Worth to the DFW (Dallas-Ft. Worth) International Airport."
According to 4G Metro, the wireless network will provide passengers with Internet access, and will also deliver "infotainment" -- advertising, news and sports -- to 27-inch LCD screens in each railway car. The Internet access sounds cool, but the infotainment I could do without...
There's more here from Voxilla ... more here from Unstrung ... more here from Wireless Week ... and the press release is here.
