New High-Speed Wi-Fi Standard Moves Ahead

Finally, the next generation of Wi-Fi seems like it's moving ahead. Specifically, that's 802.11n, which uses MIMO to support data rates well over 100 Mbps.
ZDNet quotes Motorola Vice President of Standards Mike Pellon as saying, "It looks like the fragmentation has passed. For the last couple of months, all the different parties involved have been pulling together." Ars Technica goes further into the politics and the allegiances involved, but the key point is that things are finally moving forward.
So while I should Apologize
for the attached "cheesy couple with laptop" photo, consider it emblematic of the joy involved in getting so many disparate groups to finally work together.Permalink: New High-Speed Wi-Fi Standard Moves Ahead
