New Voicemail and Notification Options Coming to the iPhone?


AppleInsider reports that Apple and AT&T may be developing new carrier-specific functionality for the iPhone.


The enhancements are said to include an automatic notification when a user is in danger of exceeding their limit of monthly minutes, as well as a new option to disable the voicemail greeting entirely. "The proposals are said to be a collaborative effort between AT&T and Apple based off customer feedback," the report states. "In addition to boosting customer satisfaction with both the iPhone and AT&T's wireless network, the additions could also serve as a steppingstone for additional carrier-specific features."


"Neither of those features sounds like anything particularly useful to lots of users," complains iPhone Buzz's Shane McGlaun. "Perhaps AT&T should concentrate on enhancing their network to support the features we already have..."
