At CES today, OQO Inc. demoed a WiMax-enabled version of the OQO model 02, the first UMPC (ultra-mobile PC) designed to work with Sprint's Xohm WiMax service.

"OQO has teamed up with Sprint on the effort, naturally, giving the compact handheld the ability to surf the web (at blazing speeds) anywhere you have a WiMax connection," notes Mobile Magazine's Michael Kwan. "This is certainly more convenient than trying to hunt down a Wi-Fi hotspotlinks every time you get inspired to write a blog post..."

At this point, though, it's just a technology demo - the OQO model 02 is currently only available with EV-DO Rev. A and/or HSDPA, and there's no WiMax-enabled version of the OQO model 02 yet available for sale.
