Palm Charges $5.99 for Wi-Fi Security Upgrade
PalmInfoCenter's Ryan Kairer notes that palmlinks has released a Wi-Fi enterprise security update for the Palm TX, adding authentication and secure encryption for many additional wireless 802.1x-based security protocols.

The update also includes some additional desktop software: Palm Wi-Fi Profile Wizard, a desktop UI and scripting tool to configure security parameters including CA, server and client certificates.

What's odd is that they're charging $5.99 to download the update.

Considering all the hype that the danger of unsecured Wi-Fi has been getting lately, that seems like a very strange tactic -- you'd think they would want every Palm TX user to be as secure as possible...
