Reuters reports that Verizon Wireless customers now have access to Plaxo's service for updating the contacts in their phones automatically, for an additional fee of $4.49 a month.
"The service takes computer-based contact lists from commonly used email systems, such as those of Microsoft Corp. or Yahoo Inc., and sends the contact details wirelessly to the customer's cell phone," the article states.
If the PC-based version of Plaxo is any indication, $4.49 a month sure seems like a lot of money to pay for the privilege of spamming all of your contacts with annoying "please update your info" emails... [CORRECTION: Apparently, Plaxo no longer sends those emails. Intead, they've found new ways to annoy you.]
The company says Alltel Wireless and U.S. Cellular will also be offering the service, called Plaxo Mobile Plus, in the coming weeks.

Plaxo is a telco centric service where there are user oriented services available in the market e.g. www.zyb.com. I would personally be more comfortable with services like ZYB where there are no strings attached and is free for the user.
