Plusmo today announced the availability of its new mobile Web service. The service has been in alpha for six weeks, during which, the company says, users from more than 110 countries and 90 service providers have tried it out.
Plusmo enables three types of content -- Feeds, Gadgets and Channels. Feeds are XML/RSS-based resources like blogs and news feeds. Gadgets are small applications like traffic reports or a Google News search. Channels are user-created combinations of feeds, like a 'Gadgets Galore' channels which combines Engadget and Gizmodo feeds.
"Whether you want to catch up on your favorite blog while at the checkout line, read the day's news in pictures, locate
the nearest Starbucks, or find cheap gas nearby, you can do all this and more with Plusmo," says company CEO Krishna Vedati. "Surfing the web using Plusmo is a lot of fun because there is no waiting -- all the information is downloaded to your phone in advance."
Plusmo, currently in beta, is free for users and free for content providers.
