POSDATA Announces G100 Mobile WiMax Gaming Device

Korean company POSDATA unveiled the G100, which it calls the world's first mobile WiMax gaming device.

"Gaming will be positioned as one of the initial killer applications for WiMax, when the technology will be introduced in Chicago and Baltimore later this year and throughout 2008 and 2009 in other parts of the country," notes TG Daily's Wolfgang Gruener. "So it was not surprising that most WiMax demonstrations at WiMax World USA 2007 focused on online gaming."

"The G100 will feature a four-inch touchscreen lcd, which slides away to reveal a game pad beneath," reports Digital Trends News' Nick Mokey. "Besides support for WiMax, it will also offer Bluetooth and conventional Wi-Fi connectivity."

CNET Asia's Kevin Kang notes that the G100 appears to be an almost exact clone of iRiver's planned G10, which had been planned for release at the end of 2006...
