QuickerTek Promises ‘Wireless Heaven’ for MacBook Users

QuickerTek Promises 'Wireless Heaven' for MacBook Users

MacWorld's Peter Cohen reports today on QuickerTek's new $200 external Wi-Fi transceiver, designed to double the wireless signal strength and distance of the 17-inch MacBook Pro.

"With range improved, users can use their 17-inch MacBook Pro up to twice as far away from an AirPort Base Station or other wireless access point, according to QuickerTek," Cohen writes. "The device installs without drivers or other changes to the normal wireless connection procedure — the MacBook Pro uses the same internal antenna."

"At the office, a five foot cable allows you to locate the Transceiver up and away from desktop clutter that reduces wireless effectiveness," the QuickerTek web site states. "It also quickly clips onto the MacBook Pro case to make going mobile fast and hassle-free. The included 2dBi antenna also boosts the wireless signal grabbing power."

The QuickerTek site oh-so-humbly calls the transceiver "wireless heaven."
