InternetNews' David Needle reports today that Research In Motion, as expected, has announced its new BlackBerry 8820 smartphone, soon to be available through AT&T Wireless. No pricing was announced.
"The mobile device is RIM's thinnest smartphone and its first dual-mode handset," needle
writes. "The 8820 combines EDGE/GPRS/GSM cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity for data access and voice support; it also includes a built in Global Positioning System (GPS)."
"The BlackBerry 8820 complements our carrier partners' cellular networks with the added ability to stay connected via Wi-Fi at home, through hotspots and corporate campuses," says RIM president Mike Lazaridis.
