Samsung and Sprint Promise WiBro in D.C. by December

Korea's Yonhap News reports today that Samsung and Sprint are saying they'll have WiBro deployed in Washington, D.C. by December of this year, as the first step of Sprint's planned WiMax network.

"The commercial service (by sprint nextellinks) utilizing Samsung's WiBro technology will begin by the end of this year," Samsung's Choi Gee-sung said on Sunday at CeBIT 2007.

"Samsung is one of the companies Sprint Nextel has been working with for its plan to launch the WiMax service for areas around Washington and Chicago starting as early as the end of this year," the article states. "According to Choi, Samsung Electronics plans to unveil a new technology at the Beijing 2008 Olympics as an official wireless communications equipment partner."
