Samsung to Bring Xohm WiMax to New York

Sprint announced this week that it's giving Samsung the contract to deploy the WiMax infrastructure for its Xohm services in the New York area, with availability for Sprint customers expected by late 2008.
Samsung's doing well on that count – it's already got contracts with Sprint for Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia, Providence and Washington, D.C. – and the new agreement covers not only New York City but also much of northern and central New Jersey.
Sprint CTO Barry West couldn't resist a Xohm pun. "It's faster than a New York minute, and will deliver a unique multimedia mobile Internet experience over innovative devices," he said in a statement.
