Shocking News! O2 Gets the iPhone!

As was widely expected, Apple today announced that O2 will be the exclusive UK carrier for the 8GB Apple iPhone, which launches in the UK on November 9th for £269.
"Confirmation of the revenue sharing agreement which Apple has struck with O2 have yet to emerge," notes The Inquirer's Tony Dennis. "However, it's widely believed to be a massive 40 percent of all data traffic." But NewsFactor's Barry Levine disagrees, saying it's 10 percent.
Reporting on the launch, ZDNet's Jason D. O'Grady notes that O2's "unlimited data" plan for the iPhone is apparently limited to 1,400 Internet pages per day. "Anyone else annoyed that Apple/O2 calls this 'unlimited data?'" he asks. "Isn't that deceptive marketing?"
"Apple in London didn't make any announcements covering other European countries," notes InformationWeek's W. David Gardner. "Orange has been reported to be ready to offer the iPhone in France, while Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile is in line to offer the phone in Germany, Austria, Croatia, the Netherlands, and Hungary, according to media reports. Announcements for those countries could come as early as this week."
