SMC Announces Skype Wi-Fi Phone

Convergence TechPlanet today looks at SMC's new WSKP100 Skype Wi-Fi phone, which the company says will be released worldwide within the next few months for US $199.
The WSKP100 looks and feels like a traditional mobile phone, but uses Wi-Fi to access Skype's VoIP service for free or low-cost calls.
"The phone comes with a QoS function that prioritizes voice packets over data traffic on the wireless networks, ensuring good consistent voice quality," according to reporter Chan Chi Loong. "It also comes with Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) for security."
