On August 7th, Wireless Weblog sponsor Cognio will be releasing Version 3.0 of its Spectrum Expert, which will give enterprise IT managers "advanced tools to track and analyze individual channels, access points, and noise and interference problems before they impact network service or reliability," according to the company.
"IT managers no longer have to accept wireless networks that are second best and incapable of supporting mission critical enterprise applications," says William Flanagan, vice president of marketing for Cognio. "With Spectrum Expert as part of their tool kit, enterprise IT managers and administrators can deliver true service and quality parity between their wired and wireless networks, confident that each network will perform to its full potential."
Among other enhancements, a new Stacked Channel Utilization Chart will give IT managers the ability to identify overused channels. An advanced alert system also helps IT managers find rogue access points and unauthorized ad hoc networks that could compromise network security.
Farpoint Group analyst Craig Mathias says the role of the wireless network is changing, and enterprise IT managers have to respond accordingly. "Cognio's Spectrum Expert is critical to ensure the integrity and reliability of wireless networks and will be an indispensable part of any enterprise IT manager's tool kit as more innovative, real-time communications services are offered," he says.
