Premium MVNO Voce appears to have died quietly as of February 1st, with no warning to subscribers - and, so far, without any change to the company's Web site.
The LA Times' David Colker reports that Voce users are simply getting a "rejected connection" message on their handsets, and the company's phone line just rings with no answer. Not only that, but Voce has repeatedly attemped to double-bill its customers over the last couple of weeks...
According to Yahoo! Tech's Ben Patterson, "A Web site calling for a class-action lawsuit against Voce went live over the weekend, with dozens of angry posters saying they'd managed (luckily) to port their numbers to other carriers."
"Voce is merely the latest, though the messiest, MVNO to go down," notes RCR Wireless News' Phil Carson. "Other MVNOs that have shut down in the recent past include Amp'd Mobile, Mobile ESPN, Disney Mobile (since transplanted to Japan) and XE Mobile."
