The Daily Breeze's Doug Irving reports today that Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will be adding valet parking and Wi-Fi access in the coming year, among other improvements.
"Airport officials are trying to smooth some of the rough edges that year after year earn LAX poor grades from weary travelers," Irving writes. "They plan to roll out millions of dollars in upgrades and amenities in the next year, including new bathrooms, airport guides and valet parking."
That oh-so-LA valet parking service will cost $38 a day, but the Wi-Fi -- provided by T-Mobile -- will cost the usual $9.99 a day, or free with the usual T-Mobile subscription plans.
Still, as Wi-Fi Networking News' Glenn Fleishman points out, that's far from a bargain. "Unfortunately, T-Mobile has few relationships with other hotspot aggregators -- only with corporate-scale aggregators and international roaming partners -- so LAX, San Francisco, and other T-Mobile airports will remain expensive for those who aren't T-Mobile HotSpot subscribers," he writes.
The airport's press release is here.
