TZero to Unwire the Home

ExtremeTech's Mark Hachman today looks at ultrawideband (UWB) startup TZero's plans for unwiring home entertainment systems.
While most UWB companies are focusing on Wireless USB, enabling short-range transmissions to replace wired USB connections, TZero wants to replace audio-visual cables throughout the house. "TZero, a startup in the Intel-led WiMedia camp, claims its components will be able to produce 100-Mbit data rates across distances of between 10 and 30 meters
," Hachman writes.
And the startup isn't being shy about its capabilities -- in May, TZero announced plans with testing company Tektronix to establish a "gold standard" for UWB testing. Company CTO Rajeev Krishnamoorthy says the aim is to serve as a challenge to TZero's competitors. "Customers can use this to validate how good the other offerings from other vendors are, using us a base comparison," he says.
